England have called up uncapped seam bowler James Harris for the forthcoming three-match Twenty20 series against New Zealand.

The 22-year-old Welsh bowler will provide cover for Stuart Meaker after the Surrey man missed England’s warm-up match against a New Zealand XI with a neck strain.

The T20 tie was abandoned due to rain after 9.1 overs with the hosts on 70-1 as England toiled. The tie has been rearranged for Tuesday morning.

The first T20 between New Zealand and Stuart Broad’s side takes place in Auckland on Saturday, with the tourists also facing the Kiwis in a one-day international and Test series in February and March.
