Bacary Sagna admits that he is “unhappy” with his recent displays for Arsenal – but has vowed to rediscover his top form in the coming weeks.

The France international has struggled to find his best form since returning from a broken leg suffered in the final game of last season.

The 29-year-old insists that he is aware that he has not been at the top of his game this term and is intent on improving in the second half of the season.

“I’m going to be honest with myself – [I’ve not been] at my best,” Sagna told Arsenal Player.

“I’m not very happy with myself, but it’s football. It’s a part where I need to get better. I’ve been working since last summer but I need to work more because I’ve been out a long time.

“I didn’t really have a pre-season but at a high level you don’t have time to breathe. You have a game every three days and have to keep coming. I’m looking forward to coming back to my best.”

He added: “It’s a bit of everything. When you don’t perform as you used to be when you’ve been injured for so long, you need your confidence back. That’s been a bit low recently.

“I’m a professional so I know it can happen, but not for too long. Everyone is waiting for me to perform well so I’m looking forward to doing it.”
