Joey Barton says he doesn’t expect to return to Queens Park Rangers in the summer, although the midfielder admits to missing the Premier League.
The one-time England international has become a first-team regular at Marseille after joining the Ligue 1 outfit on a season-long loan from the Hoops in August.
The 30-year-old has scored once, while also creating three goals, in 17 appearances for l’OM – and the former Hoops skipper is keen to stay at the Stade Velodrome.
“I cannot see me playing again at QPR,” said Barton.
“Marseille had faith in me when no one had faith anymore, so I want to pay them back for that.
“At the right moment we will talk. But I miss Premier League.”
Barton scored 25 goals in 222 Premier League appearances for Manchester City, Newcastle and QPR before joining Marseille last summer.
