Sergio Aguero is convinced that Manchester City can claw back the 12-point deficit to Manchester United and retain their Premier League title.

Roberto Mancini’s men watched United stretch their lead at the top of the table last weekend following the Citizen’s surprise loss to Southampton, as the Red Devils overcame Everton.

United look firmly on course to win their 20th top-flight title – but Aguero, who netted the famous winner against QPR that won his side the trophy last season, insists that City are not out of the race with 12 games left to play this season.

“We have to keep fighting until the end, that’s my motto and that’s the way we won the Premier League last season,” said Aguero.

“In football, everything is possible. We are still in a contest with Manchester United.

“We won the title off them last season and now we’re in the fight again. We can regain the leadership of the Premier League from them. City have everything to grow and the best is yet to come.

“I say this because I feel the ambition of my team-mates in the dressing room, in training and in matches.”
