Ferguson says Man City will drop points as Citizens prepare for Chelsea
Manchester City v Chelsea: Sir Alex Ferguson insists that it is "unavoidable" that the Citizens will drop points in the title run-in
Sir Alex Ferguson insists that it is “unavoidable” that Manchester City will drop points in the title run-in as the defending champions prepare to host Chelsea on Sunday.
Roberto Mancini’s men head into Sunday’s showdown with the Londoners at the Etihad Stadium 12 points behind their table-topping rivals, a gap that could be stretched to 15 if United are victorious at QPR the day before.
The Manchester City boss has insisted that his side still have a chance of catching United, despite the sizeable gap with 12 games left to play.
But United manager Ferguson is adamant that the Citizens will drop points themselves as the season reaches its climax.
Ferguson said: “They are going on about us dropping points – but I would say the same thing to be honest. The fact of the matter is they will drop points too. It is unavoidable.”
“Teams drop points. It is a tough league. It is not easy winning all your games. At the moment we have a good momentum. The only thing we can do is try to win our next match and see where it takes us.”
