Arsenal transfers: Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal urges his Chile team-mate Alexis Sánchez to swap Barcelona for Turin
Arturo Vidal has urged Barcelona forward Alexis Sánchez to join Juventus amid reported interest from Arsenal.
The Chile international has struggled to impress at the La Liga leaders this season, scoring a modest five goals in 34 appearances for the Catalan side.
Sánchez’s poor form has prompted reports the 24-year-old could return to Serie A, with defending Italian champions Juventus reportedly interested in signing the former Udinese forward.
And Vidal, who joined Juve in 2011, says he wants to stay in Turin and would love his compatriot to join him at La Vecchia Signora.
“I promise that I will stay at Juve,” Vidal said. “I still have a three-and-a-half-year contract and I am very happy in Turin. I’d be happy if he [Sánchez] was here at Juve.”
Earlier this week, Udinese sporting director Fabrizio Larini said the club’s former striker would be perfectly suited to Arsenal’s style of play.
“Sánchez needs to play the ball on the ground, just like Arsenal. That would be his ideal game,” Larini told Tuttomercatoweb.com.
“I do not know his current situation at the Spanish club. But his fitness problems have definitely limited his performances.
“The only thing that these teams will have to consider is that he is a player who needs freedom to play his way. In teams that have particularly rigid patterns of play he might have a few problems.”
Sanchez has scored 20 goals in 75 appearances for Barcelona after completing a €36m (£31m) move to Camp Nou from Udinese in 2011.
