Arsenal transfers: Per Mertesacker wants to stay despite Wolfsburg link
Arsenal transfers: German defender Per Mertesacker says he doesn't want to leave the Gunners despite a disappointing season

Per Mertesacker has rubbished claims he could quit Arsenal and return to the Bundesliga in the summer amid reported interest from Wolfsburg.
The 28-year-old centre-half has struggled to produce his best form since moving to the Gunners in a reported £8m deal from Werder Bremen in August 2011.
Mertesacker, who underwent ankle surgery in February 2012, was part of the Arsenal side heavily criticised for an abysmal defensive performance in a 2-1 loss to Tottenham earlier in March.
With Wenger hoping to strengthen his back four in the summer after another difficult season, Mertesacker has been linked with a move to Wolfsburg, but the giant defender is not looking to quit the north London side.
“A change is not an issue,” Mertesacker told German newspaper Sport-Bild.
“Our manager Arsene Wenger gives me absolute confidence, I play every game. I can think of nothing else, but to stay at Arsenal.”
Mertesacker has scored two goals in 62 appearances for Arsenal, captaining the side for the first time in a 3-2 win at Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup earlier this season.
