Our man-in-the-know is predicting United to edge to a victory over the Royals by a one-goal margin, while tipping Everton to hold Manchester City at Goodison Park.
Meanwhile, at the foot of the Premier League table, his money is on Loic Remy to fire Queens Park Rangers to victory in a crucial relegation showdown at Villa Park.
The Tipster reckons Hernández could get a sustained run in Sir Alex Ferguson’s starting line-up after scoring against Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford last weekend. The Mexico international has scored four goals in last five appearances in all competitions, taking his tally 16 goals for the season. The Tipster fancies Hernández to score first against Reading at great odds of 3/1.
The Tipster likes the price on the draw here. City have started to play with confidence since the near-fatal defeat by Southampton, and Everton are coming off the back of a hugely disappointing home loss in the FA Cup to Wigan. But the Toffees’ home league form is very good – only Chelsea have come away with three points this season. Spurs and United have both come to Goodison and been beaten, plus City have only won one of the last seven meetings between the sides, with David Moyes’ men winning the last three meetings at Goodison. The Tipster reckons the draw is great value at 5/2.
This is a massive game at the bottom, with Villa sitting three points clear of 18th-placed Wigan and a further point clear of QPR. It is a really tough one to call as the R’s are coming off the back of two straight league wins. Having been so negative all season, the Tipster was really impressed with how QPR took the game to Sunderland and they deserved the win. Villa will be confident too, having secured a huge win at Reading. But Paul Lambert’s men have lost five of their last six at home, whereas QPR have fared slightly better on the road, taking seven points from a possible 12. So The Tipster is backing QPR to beat Villa at 23/10.
The Tipster has QPR as slight favourites for this six-pointer as Redknapp’s side are on a better run defensively – and crucially – they have a genuine goal threat in Remy. This clash has already been billed as Christian Benteke versus Remy. The 26-year-old will be flying high after his recent recall to the France set-up and the Tipster has confidence in Remy after backing him last weekend. So, our betting expert is plumping for the former Marseille striker to score any time at 7/4.
United looked jaded in the second half against Chelsea and we might see quite a few changes here. The Tipster thinks the team will be similar to the one that played the FA Cup fifth-round tie, where United ran out 2-1 winners. Almost two thirds of the Red Devils’s wins this season have been by a single goal margin, including their 4-3 victory over the Royals at the Madejski Stadium. So the Tipster’s long shot is United to win by a single goal at 9/2.
