Thibaut Courtois says he wants to stay on loan at Atletico Madrid for a third season rather than return to his parent club Chelsea for the 2013/14 campaign.
The Belgium international has impressed for Diego Simeone’s side as second-place Atletico aim to finish above bitter rivals Real Madrid in La Liga.
The 21-year-old is yet to make a senior appearance for Chelsea after signing a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge following his move from Genk in 2011.
With Petr Cech still the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper at the Blues, Courtois is wants to extend his Atletico loan for another season, with the Belgium international optimistic both clubs can agree a deal.
“I am happy, I like my life here, my team-mates,” said Courtois.
“It is not just my decision, Chelsea and Atletico also have to talk.
“But everyone knows I like it here and, if I can, I want to stay.”
Courtouis has kept 41 clean sheets in 84 games for Atletico after joining the Madrid-based club on loan in 2011.
