Daniel Agger: Liverpool still have a lot to play for this season

Daniel Agger has insisted that Liverpool still have “a lot to play for” this season as they prepare to welcome high-flying Tottenham to Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds’ hopes of winning a trophy this season ended with their aggregate defeat by Anzhi Makhachkala in the Europa League last 32 last month.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are currently in seventh place in the Premier League table and five points behind fifth-placed Arsenal with 10 games left to play.
And Agger believes that the Reds, who thrashed Wigan Athletic 4-0 on Saturday, are starting to show the consistency needed to secure European football for next season.
“We are finally starting to show some consistency and that’s what we need,” Agger told the Liverpool Echo.
“It’s vital we keep playing this way and try to get as high as possible in the league. What is the target for us now? I think we’ve all agreed that we only look at one game at a time. Our focus now is on Tottenham.
“But only having one game each week for the rest of the season should help us. When you have fewer games it’s easier to recover between matches and that’s important.
“We should be finishing this season strongly. There’s still a lot to play for.”
