Liverpool dealt a blow to Tottenham’s pursuit of Champions League football after the Reds came from a goal down to beat Spurs at Anfield.

Jan Vertonghen had struck either side of the break to give Spurs the lead after Luis Suárez’s opener.

But a poor back-pass from Kyle Walker allowed Stewart Downing to equalise, and a Steven Gerrard penalty completed the comeback after Benoit Assou-Ekotto fouled Suárez in the box.
