Eden Hazard has the world at his feet, declares Chelsea’s Frank Lampard
Midfielder Frank Lampard says Eden Hazard "has the world at his feet" after the Belgian set him up for his 200th Chelsea goal
Frank Lampard declared that Eden Hazard “has the world at his feet” after the Belgian playmaker set up the veteran midfielder for his 200th Chelsea goal.
Lampard scored the opener in the 19th minute as Chelsea ran out 2-0 winners over West Ham to move back into third place in the Premier League table, with Hazard netting the second five minutes after half-time.
And the 34-year-old midfielder, who admitted it was “special” to reach the milestone against his former club, is backing Hazard to develop into a top player at Stamford Bridge.
“It’s special. It’s obviously a landmark I’ve been getting towards,” Lampard told Sky Sports.
“I’m just pleased to get there and pleased it’s an important goal for the team.
“I’ve been very fortunate to play for the club for a long time here with great players and players who put the ball on a plate sometimes for you like Hazard did there so I’m thankful.
“I think he’s got the world at his feet and he can handle that pressure because he’s that good.”
Chelsea interim boss also had words of praise for Hazard after his impressive performance in west London.
“We didn’t have any doubt about the quality of Eden,” he said.
“It is a case of finding the link with the other players – [Juan] Mata, [Victor] Moses, [Demba] Ba, Oscar, [Fernando] Torres – when they are on the pitch and then he can make the difference in attack.”
