Newcastle United will take on Benfica in the quarter-finals of the Europa League after the draw was made in Nyon on Friday.

The Magpies, who booked their place in the last eight courtesy of a 1-0 aggregate win over Anzhi on Thursday, take on the Portuguese side for the first time.

Meanwhile, Tottenham were rewarded for their dramatic triumph over Inter Milan with a clash against Basel. Spurs have never faced the Swiss side before. The last time Basel reached the quarter-finals was in 2005-06, when they were eliminated by another English club, Middlesbrough.

Last season’s Champions League winners Chelsea, who overcame Steaua Bucharest to secure their last-eight spot, will take on Russian side Rubin Kazan. Rubin will be visiting London for a second time, having lost 1-0 at Spurs in 2011.

The Europa League quarter-final first legs will be played on 4 April, with the return legs set to take place on 11 April.

All of the games will kick off at 2005BST, with the exception of Rubin’s home game, which will start at 1700BST.
