Charlie Adam believes that Gareth Bale is one of the best players in the world at the moment but insists that Wales are not a one-man team ahead of Friday’s clash with Scotland.

Scotland host Wales in Friday’s 2014 World Cup qualifier and Bale has been one of the Premier League top performers this season, netting 21 goals in 36 appearances for Tottenham.

Midfielder Adam is wary of the threat posed by the 23-year-old attacker but insists that Scotland would be foolish to only focus on stopping the high-flying winger, who is expected to be fit for the clash at Hampden Park despite missing training on Wednesday with an ankle problem.

“He’s one of the best in the world at the moment,” Adam, who had a bitter feud with Bale following a pre-season friendly last summer, told a news conference on Wednesday.

“We will probably have a plan to try to stop him, but they’ve got other good players as well. He’s a big threat for them.

“If he has an off night, it doesn’t mean it’s going to be an easy game. They’re not a one-man team.”

Adam added: “We need to attack. We need to try to win the game. But we’re at home and we’re looking forward to it.

“We have to go for it. If we’re going to do something, we have to start on Friday.”
