Heineken Cup 2013: Simon Zebo 50/50 for Munster’s clash with Quins
Heineken Cup 2013: Simon Zebo admits there is a 50 per cent chance he will be fit for Munster's last-eight clash with Quins
Simon Zebo admits there is a 50 per cent chance he will be back in action in time for the Heineken Cup with his province Munster early next month.
Zebo, 23, has been in flying form this season and earned himself a starting berth in Ireland’s Six Nations side as a result.
He started the championship with a bang, scoring a fine try against Wales in a 30-22 victory against the eventual champions but suffered a broken foot in Ireland’s second match with England and has been sidelined since.
Munster kept their hopes of reaching the Pro12 play-offs alive with victory over Connacht last weekend and they will face Glasgow Warriors on Saturday looking to close the gap on the top four.
Zebo will miss the trip to Scotland but the week after Munster travel to London to face Harlequins – and the Ireland flyer is hopeful of being involved.
“Next week will tell a lot if I have any chance to get back,” Zebo told Newstalk.
“I have to go into contact and get someone to stamp on [my feet] and take studs on them.
“I’ll probably curl into a ball and start crying.
“It’s 50-50 at the moment. Hopefully I’ll get out against Harlequins; fingers crossed.
“By Monday or Tuesday I’ll know. Hopefully it doesn’t swell up and I’ll be able to drive on.”
