Indian Wells 2013: I’m a perfectionist, says Victoria Azarenka
Indian Wells 2013: Top seed Victoria Azarenka admits that she is constantly striving for perfection ahead of opening match
Victoria Azarenka admits that she is constantly striving for perfection as she prepares to get her Indian Wells campaign under way.
The 23-year-old Australian Open champion is the top seed at the tournament and will face either Daniela Hantuchova or qualifier Stephanie Foretz Gacon in the second round.
Azarenka, who conceded the world No1 ranking to Serena Williams last month, says that she is constantly focused on improving and is eyeing further Grand Slam triumphs after her second consecutive success at Melbourne Park back in January.
“I’m such a perfectionist all the time,” Azarenka told reporters. “I always try to work on everything.
“I feel like I have room to improve, and that’s what excites me even more. I’m definitely looking forward to improving myself and being more aggressive, faster and stronger.
“They are basic things, but you just try to work on the details. If I could improve one, two or three per cent in every area, then I’ll try to build from there.
“I always set myself goals. The ultimate goal is to try to make it to the year-end championships. It shows your consistency during the year. But my main priority, my main focus is the Grand Slams.”
