Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers wary of Christian Benteke threat

Brendan Rodgers has singled out Christian Benteke as Aston Villa’s danger-man ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Villa Park on Sunday.
The 22-year-old Belgian has been in stellar form for Paul Lambert’s men this term, netting 17 goals in all competitions this season since arriving from Genk for £7m last summer.
Benteke’s performances are understood to have caught the eye of a number of Europe’s top clubs, with Inter Milan and Liverpool both reported to be weighing up summer swoops for the striker.
And Rodgers admits that he has been impressed by Benteke’s instant impact in English football this season.
“He has done very well,” Rodgers told a news conference on Friday.
“He’s shown in a number of games that he is a real handful and he’s a big, strong player, who has a good touch.
“He attacks the ball really well. He’s been a real reference for their team.
“He will certainly be one that we need to look out for at the weekend.”
