Liverpool transfers: Ireland assistant manager Marco Tardelli says Luis Suárez would be an "ideal" signing for Juventus

Liverpool striker Luis Suárez would be an ideal signing for Juventus, according to Republic of Ireland assistant manager Marco Tardelli.

The Uruguay international took his tally to 21 Premier League goals this season after scoring an impressive hat-trick in Saturday’s 4-0 win at Wigan Athletic.

Juventus have been heavily linked with a move for the South American over the past 12 months despite the striker penning a new long-term Reds deal last summer.

And Tardelli, who scored 35 goals for Juve in a nine-year spell, feels that Suárez would be a great signing for the defending Italian champions.

“It’s obvious that a striker who scores 20 goals a season would be a good addition for any team. Good players are not cheap, though,” Tardelli told Tuttosport.

“Suárez would be ideal due to his power, technique and directness, but I’d say signing him could be a complicated matter. [Gonzalo] Higuain could be a more realistic option.”

Tardelli also believes Juventus, who have a 3-0 lead from the last-16 first leg at Celtic, can reach the Champions League final this season – provided results fall in their favour.

“Teams like Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have something extra,” Tardelli added.

“The Champions League is a strange competition , though. If Barcelona and Real Madrid are eliminated in this round, things are different for the other teams. And at that stage, Juventus could go far with their great organisation.”
