Liverpool transfers: ‘Luis Suárez needs Champions League football’
Liverpool transfers: Luis Suárez needs to be playing in the Champions League, according to Uruguay forward Edinson Cavani

Luis Suárez needs to be playing in the Champions League on a regular basis, according to his Uruguay team-mate Edinson Cavani.
The Liverpool striker’s future has been a source of constant speculation over the past week after the 26-year-old admitted he would be open to talking to clubs who could offer him Champions League football in the summer.
In response, Reds managing director Ian Ayre declared Suárez would not be leaving the Merseyside outfit despite Brendan Rodgers’ side trailing fourth-placed Tottenham by nine points.
But Napoli striker, Cavani, who is being linked with a switch to Manchester City at the end of the season, believes his compatriot deserves to be playing in Europe’s premier club competition.
“The fact is that Luis is one of the top strikers in the world and he wants to be playing Champions League football,” Cavani told the Daily Mirror.
“Of course, Liverpool are not going to make it this season. But of they don’t make it next season then they will have a problem.
“Luis would love to play in the Champions League with Liverpool. But if he can’t then a player of his quality needs to play for a club where he can.”
Suárez has scored 22 goals in 29 Premier League appearances for Liverpool this season.
