Luis Suárez: Liverpool have been unlucky in cup competitions
Luis Suárez says Liverpool are unlucky to be out of all three cup competitions but is optimistic about next season

Luis Suárez believes Liverpool have been unlucky in the cup competitions this season, but is optimistic about their future after some “great” Premier League performances.
The 26-year-old, signed by Kenny Dalglish in January 2011, has been central to some of the Reds’s most impressive displays, scoring 25 goals in all competitions.
However, the Uruguay international’s performances failed to prevent Brendan Rodgers’s side prematurely crashing out of the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup.
But Suárez is drawing inspiration from some of their Premier League results this term, with the striker feeling confident about their chances of winning silverware in the 2013-14 campaign.
“I think that maybe we’ve been a bit unlucky in the cup competitions,” Suárez told Liverpool’s website.
“I think we might have done enough to deserve to still be in at least one of the cups.
“But I think we’ve turned in some great performances in the league which have shown the real Liverpool that everyone wants to see, which will serve as the basis for what happens next year.
“I think the team is developing nicely, the new signings have settled in well, the manager is happy and I think if we carry on in the same vein we could have a very good season next time around.
“Let’s hope so because that’s what we all want.”
