Man City transfers: Roberto Mancini tight-lipped on Kolo Toure future
Man City transfers: Roberto Mancini is staying tight-lipped on the possibility of Kolo Toure being offered a new contract
Roberto Mancini has remained tight-lipped on the possibility of Kolo Toure being offered a new Manchester City deal in the summer.
The centre-half’s current Citizens contract is set to expire at the end of the season, with reports suggesting the Ivory Coast international could move to Turkey.
Toure has been one of City’s standout performers in recent weeks, including a man-of-the-match display in a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa on Monday.
But Mancini, whose side are 12 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester United, hinted that the former Arsenal defender still needs to prove himself in the season’s climax.
“We don’t know at this moment [about Toure’s future]. What is important is that he continues to play the way he did on Monday night and against Chelsea,” Mancini said.
“Kolo is a really professional player and deserves to have the satisfaction of those performances. He has done really well and we will see. I am happy for him because he is a good guy.”
Toure has scored three goals in 93 appearances for City after completing a £16m move to the Eastlands outfit from Arsenal in July 2009.
