Man United transfers: Anderson admits he’s open to Porto return
Man United transfers: Anderson says he would be open to a return to Porto after being linked with a summer move away from Old Trafford
Anderson admits that Porto would be his first-choice destination should he seal a transfer away from Manchester United.
The Brazilian, who has not been a regular starter for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side this season despite returning to full fitness, has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this season.
The 24-year-old was last month quoted as saying that he had tried to quit the Premier League club “many times” in the past but had been unsuccessful.
Now the midfielder, whose current contract is set to expire in 2016, says he would be open to a return to Porto, where he scored three goals in 24 appearances between 2006 and 2007.
“I can say that Porto are the only club where I could think of going if I returned to Portugal,” Anderson told A Bola. “My past is there, and that is where my roots are.”
Anderson has scored nine goals in 162 appearances for the 19-time English champions after completing a £20m move to Old Trafford from Porto in 2007.
