Jack Rodwell says he hopes to recover from a hamstring injury in time for Manchester City’s title run-in and FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

The England international was forced off in the 25th minute of the Citizens’s 1-0 victory over Aston Villa nine days ago after aggravating a hamstring problem.

Rodwell has endured a difficult first season at the Premier League champions, making just 11 appearances after completing a £12m move to the Eastlands outfit from Everton last summer.

But the 22-year-old is staying positive and still hopes to play a role in City’s bid to end the season with some silverware, including a cup showdown against Chelsea or Manchester United.

“Obviously you don’t want to tempt fate but I’m not looking at this a lengthy absence and I hope to be back in a couple of weeks,” Rodwell told City’s website.

“One thing I would like to say is a big thank you to all our supporters. I’ve had loads of good will messages saying to keep my chin up and that’s I’ll be back before too long.

“Hopefully I can play my part in the run-in and help us win some silverware and end what has been a frustrating season on a high.”

Rodwell scored eight goals in 109 appearances for Everton before completing a switch to City from Goodison Park in August 2012.
