Nani has vowed to prove his worth at Manchester United as the Premier League title race reaches its climax.

The Portugal winger, whose contract expires in 2014, has been limited to just 19 appearances in all competitions this season as he struggled to shake off a hamstring problem.

Nani was controversially sent off in Manchester United’s Champions League defeat by Real Madrid last week after being thrown into the starting line-up by Sir Alex Ferguson.

But the 26-year-old is determined to impress in the closing stages of the season.

“I want to show the manager that he can trust me and he can believe in me in every match,” said Nani.

“I want to show him my contribution can help win games. So I’ll keep working hard to make sure I’m ready to respond every time I get a chance.”

Reports have suggested that United will try to offload Nani this summer if he fails to regain top form to prevent him leaving the club for free in 2014.

But the winger is convinced that he is still to hit top gear this season.

“My confidence is high and I think the best is still to come from me,” he added. “This is my time and I think I can be important for the team in these big games.

“Because I was injured for two months, it means I’m fresh now when some other players are starting to get tired.”
