Norwich City transfers: Ricky van Wolfswinkel to sign for Canaries
Norwich City transfers: Canaries confirm the capture of Holland striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel on a four-year deal
Norwich City have agreed a deal to sign Ricky van Wolfswinkel from Sporting Lisbon in July, the Premier League club have confirmed.
The 24-year-old Holland striker will pen a four-year contract with the Canaries on July 1 and will join for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £8m, subject to “relevant paperwork being completed”.
Norwich boss Chris Hughton admitted his delight at the deal and described the forward, who has scored 82 goals in his last 188 club appearances, as a “perfect fit” for the Carrow Road outfit.
“Ricky’s profile is a perfect fit for us – he’s young, ambitious and a proven goal-scorer,” Hughton told Norwich’s website.
“He has an excellent goal-scoring pedigree and he’s a young man very keen to continue his personal progression and to play in England. He’s already an exciting talent but he still has more development as a player ahead of him.
“I’m delighted we’ve been able to agree a deal with Sporting Lisbon and with Ricky and we look forward to welcoming him to the squad in July, once all of the paperwork gets sorted out.”
Norwich are understood to have had a bid in the region of £8m for Van Wolfswinkel rejected by Sporting back in the January transfer window.
