Park Ji-Sung has moved to play down suggestions that the QPR midfielder could retire at the end of the season.

The 32-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot under both Mark Hughes and Harry Redknapp at Loftus Road since joining the west London club from Old Trafford last summer.

The former Manchester United player’s father was last week quoted as saying that his son could hang up his boots at the end of next season.

But Park, who won four Premier League titles during a seven-year career at Old Trafford, insists he plans on playing for “a couple more years”.

“My contract runs until next season and I have tried my best. [I’ll keep playing for] a couple more years. We will stay up and still be in the Premier League so don’t worry about that!” Park told QPR’s website.

“We still have eight games [left] and everyone knows we still have a chance. [The squad] have to be together until the end of the season to get out of this situation and we still believe we can do that.”

QPR take on Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League on Monday night.
