Ferdinand, Lineker & more: Twitter reacts as Barcelona thrash AC Milan
Rio Ferdinand and Gary Lineker both tweet their thoughts after Lionel Messi inspired Barcelona to a 4-0 win over AC Milan
Lionel Messi’s dazzling brace set Barcelona on their way to victory as the La Liga side pegged back AC Milan to reach the Champions League quarter-finals with a 4-2 aggregate win.
With Milan leading 2-0 from the first leg, Messi hit a superb double before the break – and strikes from David Villa and Jordi Alba completed the comeback for the La Liga leaders.
M’Baye Niang was guilty of spurning the visitors’ best chance of scoring an away goal when his effort bounced off the post in the first half but Barcelona were more than worthy winners in the end.
Here is some of the reaction from the professionals past and present to an enthralling Champions League last-16 tie.
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville (@GNev2) is stunned by Messi’s incredible opener: “That is staggeringly brilliant!!”
