Andre Villas-Boas says Tottenham Hotspur’s priority remains finishing in the Premier League top four ahead of their Europa last-16 second-leg tie against Inter Milan.

Spurs travel to the San Siro on Thursday with a commanding 3-0 lead from the first leg at White Hart Lane, with Villas-Boas bidding to win the Europa League for the second time.

Tottenham’s Champions League aspirations took a knock after Liverpool’s 3-2 victory over the north London side at Anfield on Sunday, leaving third-placed Spurs seven points clear of Arsenal, who have a game in hand.

Villas-Boas’s men face a tricky home clash against Fulham on Saturday, and the Tottenham boss reckons a positive result in Milan could help his side get their top-four bid back on track.

“We can embrace both. The position we are in allows us to focus. The Premier League will always be the priority but the further we get in this competition, the more we dream that we can win a trophy,” said Villas-Boas.

“Liverpool was more a game we lost than Liverpool won. We have had an amazing run. But the way we played at Anfield still makes us believe we are on a good momentum and playing with confidence.

“Victory against Inter Milan will further help us when we play Fulham. Our Premier League season is going well.”
