Andre Villas-Boas believes that Tottenham Hotspur can still pip Manchester City to second place in the Premier League this season.

Spurs moved third in the Premier League table on Monday night after Gareth Bale inspired the north Londoners to a 3-2 win at West Ham.

Villas-Boas’s Tottenham are now just five points behind Roberto Mancini’s men with 11 games left to play.

And with the defending champions still to travel to White Hart Lane in April, the Portuguese coach is hoping his side can catch second-placed City.

“[City] have the experience of winning the league, I think in their mind they are still focusing on it,” Villas-Boas said.

“They have to come here [to play us on April 21]. We have to play them still within this margin of five points at White Hart Lane.

“We could still put a threat to them. Our focus is on bridging gaps for the people in behind us.”
