Ledley King believes Tottenham are on their way to developing into Premier League title challengers in seasons to come.

Andre Villas-Boas’ men are currently fourth in the Premier League table with eight games left to play as they look to cement a spot in next season’s Champions League.

And former Spurs captain King feels that the quality of the squad at Villas-Boas’ disposal means that the north Londoners should be able to launch a serious title challenge in the next couple of years.

“I rate the current Spurs team very highly,” King told BBC Sport. “I think we’ve got a young and ambitious manager who’s great and is going to do well for the club.

“I think we’ve got a great group of players at a good age where they’re improving all the time and reaching their peak.

“The way the team are progressing at the minute, hopefully in the next year or two they will be really challenging for the Premier League.”

Spurs travel to Swansea City in the Premier League after the international break looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats.
