Tomas Hubocan is being chased by Premier League duo Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Zenit St Petersburg defender’s agent.

The 27-year-old was a key member of Luciano Spalletti’s side who reached the Europa League last 16 after beating Liverpool 4-4 on aggregate.

And Hubocan’s agent Michal Holescak claims the Magpies and Spurs are interested in the centre-half but face competition from Inter Milan and Napoli.

“Newcastle and Tottenham are interested in him, but we had contacts with Inter Milan and Napoli too,” Holescak told Tuttomercatoweb..

“Tomas is a top defender, a player for big European teams. However he is happy in Spalletti’s team: he’s focused on the Russian Premier League and on the Europe League.”

The Slovakia international, who won the Russian Premier League in 2010, replaced Martin Skrtel in Zenit’s line-up after his compatriot completed a move to Liverpool.

And Hubocan has scored once in 100 appearances for Zenit after completing a move to the Petersburg outfit from MSK Zilina in 2008.
