David Luiz admits that he sometimes finds training “boring” and insists he is not feeling the effects of Chelsea’s fixture pile-up.
The Brazilian defender is in line to make his 42nd appearance of the season when the Blues take on West Ham at Stamford Bridge on Sunday following a hectic schedule.
Luiz insists he has no problem with the west Londoners’ demanding calendar – but concedes that he finds training dull at times.
He told Chelsea’s website: “I like to play games. I don’t like to train, it’s boring sometimes.
“I love to play games, so if I had to play every day I would want to. You need to rest sometimes but I prefer games to training for sure.
“My legs are good, I am 25 years old. Sometimes if you have more players to change it is much easier to help the team, but this year we don’t have too many players.
“I think we have 22 or 23, other teams have 30 or something like that, so this is difficult for the coach who needs to play with the same players.”
Victory over West Ham on Sunday could see Chelsea leapfrog Tottenham back into third place in the Premier League table depending on Spurs’ result against Fulham.
