Twitter is an important tool in modern-day sport – Arsenal’s Cazorla
Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla says that it is important footballers use social media to connect with their fans
Arsenal playmaker Santi Cazorla believes it is important footballers use social media to connect and “be closer” to their fans.
Cazorla, who has scored 11 goals and made nine assists for the Gunners since joining from Malaga last summer, has over 250,000 followers on Twitter.
And the Spain international admits he is enjoying using the site despite not having been signed up to it for long.
Cazorla told Arsenal Player: “I haven’t been on Twitter for long and I’m a bit lost in the social media side of things but, little by little, it’s important to be closer to the fans.
“I think it’s good too to show the day-to-day life of a footballer, to give information.”
Cazorla also reserved special praise for the reception he has been given by Arsenal supporters since joining the club last summer.
“Ultimately, I want to do the job to the best of my ability and for them to enjoy watching Arsenal, that they’re happy with my work,” he added.
“From the first minute I arrived, the support they’ve given me has been spectacular.
“I can’t praise the fans highly enough and hope to give them a lot of success in the future, and that we can enjoy it all together.”
