Aaron Ramsey believes Arsenal’s new-found defensive stability can help boost the Gunners’ push for a top-four finish.

The north Londoners kept their second straight clean sheet as they ran out 1-0 winners at Fulham on Saturday – thanks to Per Mertesacker’s goal – to hoist them up to third place in the Premier League table.

And the Wales midfielder believes the Gunners’ showed they are “up for the fight” ahead of next Sunday’s Premier League clash with Manchester United at Emirates Stadium.

“We’re defending really well as a team,” Ramsey told Arsenal’s website. “We’re defending high up. Communication is good between the team and the two of them. Everyone is working for each other at the moment and I think everyone can see that.

“Fulham had a few corners, which they are normally quite dangerous on. We dealt with them and our centre backs made a lot of clearing headers. They were up for the battle and they topped off a good week for themselves.

“It was important to win the game. We’ve given a lot in every game we’ve played this week and maybe that showed at times here. We weren’t as fluid as we normally are but we dug in, kept a clean sheet and were up for the fight again.”
