Chelsea transfers: Bayer Leverkusen director of sport Rudi Völler confirms talks with Blues over the possible sale of Andre Schürrle
Bayer Leverkusen director of sport Rudi Völler has confirmed the German club have held talks with Chelsea over the possible sale of Andre Schürrle.
The Blues are believed to keen on signing the £20m-rated midfielder, with Leverkusen, currently managed by former Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia, hoping to secure Blues youngster Kevin De Bruyne on a season-long loan.
Schürrle, who is reported to have been a target of former Blues manager Andre Villas-Boas, has scored nine goals and made five assists in 29 Bundesliga appearances this term.
The 21-year-old has been likened to former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack, but Völler insisted last season’s Champions League winners have yet to agree a deal with Leverkusen for Schürrle.
“Yes, I was in London and we have held talks,” Völler told Bild. “There is nothing more to say. Nothing has yet been decided.”
