Clint Dempsey has challenged Tottenham to “get the job done” by beating Manchester City and edging closer to Champions League qualification.

Spurs are currently fifth in the Premier League table but can move above fourth-placed Arsenal if they win their game in hand on the Gunners in the run-in.

And with six matches left to play this season, American striker Dempsey is determined to help Spurs beat the Premier League champions at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

“It’s in our hands and you can’t ask for more than that,” Dempsey, who has scored five league goals this term, told Tottenham’s official matchday programme.

“It’s great that we have everything left to play for.

“We have our destiny in our own hands in terms of trying to achieve our target and now it’s just about making sure we get the job done. We have to make sure the opportunity doesn’t pass us by.

“Of course City are a quality team, with a lot of great players out there. It will be a difficult game, we know that, and we have to play the best football we can to try to get the right result.

“Obviously we will be aware of their threats and dangers, but we have worked hard on things this week and we will go out there and play our own game, to put ourselves in a position to win the match.”
