Danny Welbeck insists Manchester United won’t allow complacency to ruin their chances of winning a 13th Premier League crown.

The 22-year-old was part of the United side which saw the title slip from their grasp on the final day of the 2011/12 campaign after Sergio Aguero fired Manchester City into first place.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are still 12 points clear of the Citizens in the Premier League title race despite a surprise 2-1 loss to their derby rivals at Old Trafford on Monday night.

With seven games remaining, Welbeck vowed the Red Devils have learned from last season’s experience and will fight to the very end in their bid to win a 20th top-flight crown.

“As a United player you know how vital it is to win every game,” said Welbeck. “But what happened last season shows that every single game, every single point and every single goal is crucial.

“I’ll never forget the manager coming on the bus after the Sunderland game last season.

“He said to the younger players, ‘remember this feeling, it will turn you into men and make you bigger and better players and people’. None of us want to feel like that again.

“What happened has given us the motivation to improve and it has reminded us that there can be no complacency. Every single minute on the pitch matters.”
