David Moyes hits out at ‘disrespectful’ Arsene Wenger after Arsenal draw
Everton boss David Moyes defends his side's tactics and hits back at the "disrespectful" Arsene Wenger after Arsenal draw
David Moyes has branded Arsene Wenger “disrespectful” for claiming that Everton adopted an overly-physical approach to their clash at Arsenal in midweek.
The Gunner were held to a goalless draw on Tuesday as a battling Toffees side earned a deserved point in north London.
After the game, Wenger said Everton attempted to “disturb” Arsenal’s game with a physical display and claimed that the Merseysiders “went a little bit over the edge”.
But Moyes has hit back at his Arsenal counterpart and insists he will make no apology for his side’s approach to the game at Emirates Stadium.
“I’m not here to make friends with other managers. My job is to win games for Everton,” Moyes was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“I thought that [Wenger was disrespectful]. I thought we passed the ball around well. We weren’t going to let Arsenal come and dominate the game. We were going to stop them from doing that.
“No one said you can’t be competitive and I thought we played well. We restricted their passing and didn’t let them into their flow as much.”
