Eden Hazard believes Juan Mata deserves to win the PFA player of the year award this season for his sparkling displays for Chelsea.

Mata has been in brilliant form for the Blues this term, with the 24-year-old scoring 18 goals and making 31 assists in all competitions this season.

And Hazard, who joined Chelsea last summer, is backing his Spanish team-mate for the award after enjoying a promising first season together at Stamford Bridge.

“It’s a pleasure to play alongside Juan,” Hazard is quoted as saying by the Daily Star. “He’s one of the best footballers in the Premier League.

“He has that ability to see and make the pass that others wouldn’t and sees it faster than others.

“He deserves to be the player of the year. Definitely. There are others who have performed very well this season but he’s my colleague, so I would back him.”
