Zinedine Zidane has singled out Gareth Bale as the player who has impressed him most this season.

The 23-year-old Tottenham winger has been in sensational form for the north Londoners this term, scoring 22 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions for Spurs.

Bale, who has been linked with a big-money move to Spain, scored Tottenham’s second as Spurs ran out 2-1 winners at Swansea City on Saturday.

And Real Madrid legend Zidane says he has been more impressed by the Welshman than any other player this season.

“This year the player who’s impressed me most is not actually playing in the Champions League,” Zidane told Sky Sports. “He’s playing in the other cup and that’s Bale.

“He’s unique. He makes things look easy, his pace is frightening, his acceleration is unbelievable because of his ability to go through the gears in very little space.”
