Lineker, Eadie & more: Twitter reacts as Tottenham draw and Chelsea win
Gary Lineker and Jody Morris were tweeting as Tottenham drew with Basel, Chelsea beat Rubin Kazan and Newcastle lost at Benfica
Chelsea were the only English team to secure a victory in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals as they beat Rubin Kazan 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.
A brace from Fernando Torres and a goal from Victor Moses gave the west Londoners a healthy lead heading into the return leg in Russia next week.
Elsewhere, Tottenham had to come from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Basel at White Hart Lane. And a bad evening took a turn for the worse when Gareth Bale picked up a very nasty-looking ankle injury in stoppage time.
Newcastle took the lead at Benfica through Papiss Cisse, but a second-half collapse allowed the Portuguese outfit to seal a 3-1 win.
