Jan Vertonghen has called on his Tottenham team-mates to build on Saturday’s win at Swansea and produce the form needed to secure a top-four finish.

The 2-1 win at the Liberty Stadium hoisted the north Londoners into third place in the Premier League table with seven games left to play.

Spurs headed into the game following back-to-back Premier League defeats and Vertonghen is desperate to see the Lilywhites book their place in next season’s Champions League.

“We’re up there in third, we’re in the quarter-finals of the Europa League and we can be happy where we are, but now we have to finish it, to finish in the top four and go as far as possible in the Europa League,” Vertonghen told Spurs’ website.

“We needed to get back on a run and Swansea away isn’t the easiest game, they made it tough for us but we won and we’re very happy.

“We’d lost three games in a row [including Inter] so there was some pressure at Swansea. It was difficult after international week but the lads did well and it was an important win for us.”
