Liverpool transfers: Rodgers has board’s backing over summer plans
Liverpool transfers: Brendan Rodgers insists he will have the Reds owners' backing to splash the cash this summer
Brendan Rodgers insists he will have the Liverpool owners’ backing to splash the cash in the transfer market this summer.
The Northern Irishman has already spent £50m in transfer fees since taking the Anfield reins from Kenny Dalglish last summer, with Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho among the recruits back in January.
And Rodgers expects to have the full backing of the board as he looks to build a squad capable of breaking back into the top four and mounting a Premier League title assault.
“The board have given us great support and from my conversations, this summer should be the same,” said Rodgers.
“If we can get the players in that can improve us, then we can have a good squad next year.
“The conversations that I’ve had with the owners so far have been brilliant – they have been very positive and forthcoming, giving that support.
“It’s up to us now as a club to get in the types of players and the type of profile that can really help us. I feel if we can do that, we can put in a challenge right from the very beginning.”
