Brendan Rodgers is aiming to bring in a number of “quality” signings during the summer transfer window as he looks to transform Liverpool back into top-four contenders.

The Reds’ goalless draw at Reading on Saturday left the Merseysiders in seventh place in the Premier League table and eight points behind fifth-placed Tottenham, who have played a game less.

Rodgers has made no secret of his desire to bolster his Liverpool squad in the summer and the Northern Irishman is aiming to bring in some top players at Anfield.

“We’ll be in a much better place at the start of next season,” said Rodgers. “Everyone can see we have improved and got better.

“We’ve got some top players but you need quality throughout the team and once we bring in that quality we’ll move up to the next level.

“We’ll look at it in the summer, every club will bring in more players and we’ll aim to bring in that quality that will improve the group.”

Liverpool have been linked with summer swoops for Ashley Williams and Christian Eriksen in recent months.
