Liverpool transfers: Luis Suárez underlines his desire to stay at the Merseyside outfit beyond the summer despite speculation
Luis Suárez says he is planning to see out his long-term contract at Liverpool amid growing speculation surrounding the striker’s future.
The Uruguay international has scored 22 Premier League goals this season, earning the forward a place on the six-man shortlist for the PFA player of the year award.
Suárez has been attracting interest from a host of Europe’s top clubs, including Bayern Munich and Juventus, despite penning a new deal at the Merseyside outfit last August.
But the 26-year-old has underlined his desire to remain at the club beyond the summer.
“I’ll be here next season, yes. Not only am I playing for Liverpool, I am playing in one of the best leagues in the world,” Suárez told the Sunday Times.
“I am very happy [at Liverpool] and I want to see out my contract, though in football you never know quite what’s ahead.”
“A club can decide they don’t want you, even though you want to stay. In football things never turn out the way you plan.”
Suárez has scored 50 goals in 95 appearances for the Reds after completing a £22.75m swith to Liverpool from Ajax in January 2011.
