Arsenal moved into third place ahead of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur courtesy of a dramatic 3-1 victory over Norwich City at The Emirates.

Elsewhere, Everton were 2-0 winners against Queens Park Rangers, Liverpool were held to a goalless draw by Reading, Aston Villa picked up a big point and Southampton drew with West Ham United.

Here is the best of the Twitter reaction from the professionals, past and present, in chronological order to an action-packed afternoon of Premier League football.

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann (‏@DietmarHamann) is worried his former side may be punished for wasting their numerous chances: “If you don’t score when you are on top, you know what usually happens… Reading need to get in Liverpool’s half first though!”

Former Everton striker Gary Lineker ‏(@GaryLineker) is relieved Match of the Day won’t be full of goalless draws: “We’ve had to wait 41 minutes for the first Premier League goal and it has gone to Everton. Gibson’s shot viciously deflected.”

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler (‏@Robbie9Fowler) can’t understand how Reading are still level: “Unbelievable how Liverpool aren’t winning here…. #seenthisbefore”

Ex-Norwich City striker Darren Huckerby (‏@hucks6dh6) isn’t happy with some of the refereeing decisions: “Soft penalty, like to see it again on #motd, hold on boys, never a corner in the first place #ArsenalvNcfc.”

Former Newcastle United defender Warren Barton ‏(@warrenbarton2) reckons QPR are down after their loss at Everton: “Sorry to say QPR down but back up next season..”

Ex-Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour ‏(@RealRomfordPele) is thrilled with the turnaround: “Get in @Podolski10 3-1!”

Former Aston Villa midfielder Ian Taylor ‏(@IanTaylor7) will take a valuable point: “We’ll take the draw. A batch of teams involved at the base. Could have done with the win with #mufc coming up. Squeaky bum not gone!! #utv”

Arsenal youngster Craig Eastmond ‏(@craigleastmond) is drawing inspiration from his senior team-mates: “Great three points #nevergiveup #afc”

Everton defender John Heitinga ‏(@Johnheitinga) is thrilled with three points: “Another great result of #Everton against #QPR (2-0). Thanks for your support. #COYB”

Arsenal fan and golfer Ian Poulter ‏(@IanJamesPoulter) is pleased to see his side win: “Just landed in Orlando to see Arsenal had scored 3 goals in the last five minutes. Hahahaha what a result. @piersmorgan Boom Boom Boom!”

Everton midfielder Darron Gibson ‏(@D_gibson4) is delighted to score: “About time I scored! Great three points! #COYB”

But his captain Phil Neville (‏@fizzer18) ruins Gibson’s moment: “RT ‘@D_gibson4: About time I scored! Great three points! #COYB’ it was given an own goal pal, sorry!”

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere ‏(@JackWilshere) is thrilled to see the Gunners move up to third: “Great three points today! #AFC up to third in the table above Chelsea and Spurs…#COYG!”

Liverpool striker Luis Suárez (@luis16suarez) is frustrated but said the Reds gave everything: “We did everything to win but the ball didn’t want to get in. We have to keep trying till the end! YNWA!”

Finally, former Liverpool striker Neil Mellor ‏(@NeilMellor33) hails the performance of Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy: “Best goalkeeper performance seen this season. Some unbelievable saves. Another 0-0. Long journey back feeling disappointed it wasn’t three points. #LFC”
