Man United deserve Premier League title, says Man City’s Zabaleta
Manchester City's Pablo Zabaleta admits the Citizens were too inconsistent this season and Manchester United deserved the title
Pablo Zabaleta says Manchester United deserved to win their 13th Premier League title, criticising Manchester City’s inconsistent form this season.
The Citizens saw their title slip out of their grapse after Robin van Persie’s first-half hat-trick fired the Red Devils to a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa and secured a 20th top-flight crown.
Roberto Mancini’s men are currently 16 points behind their derby rivals following a 3-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, and Zabaleta urged the Citizens to keep working to improve for next season.
“For Manchester City it is important to keep winning trophies every year,” he told Sky Sports.
“We know how difficult it is in the Premier League and also Europe you play against big teams and this season we have been inconsistent and that cost us the title.
“United have been more consistent. They have been better and kept winning and they deserved the title.
“We just need to keep working and be positive because if you look at the team we have fantastic players and want to bring more success.”
City can secure their second FA Cup crown in three seasons by beating Wigan Athletic at Wembley on 11 May.
