Man United transfers: Ferguson won’t rule out Lewandowski move
Man United transfers: Sir Alex Ferguson hints Red Devils could make a move to sign Robert Lewandowski this summer
Sir Alex Ferguson has hinted that Manchester United could make a move to sign Robert Lewandowski during the summer transfer window.
The Poland international was the talk of world football last week after netting all four of Borussia Dortmund’s goals in their 4-1 Champions League semi-final triumph over Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Lewandowski, 24, has long been linked with a move away from Dortmund, with Manchester United and Bayern Munich understood to be leading the race for the prolific striker’s signature, with his contract set to expire in 2014.
And Ferguson says that the newly-crowned Premier League champions would be prepared to make a move for the striker, who has scored 35 goals this term.
“If the right player comes along you have to be prepared to make a move,” said Ferguson. “I can find room for anybody here as long as they have the required quality.
“I am not sure Lewandowski will be sold to Bayern now. The Dortmund fans are not going to be happy and I don’t think they will sell to their main rivals.
“I think they will either let his contract run out, or sell him somewhere else.”
