Man United transfers: Sir Alex Ferguson reveals that Red Devils will try and sign at least two players before next season
Sir Alex Ferguson says Manchester United will try and sign at least two players during the summer transfer window.
The newly-crowned Premier League champions have been linked with a host of big names in recent months, including Robert Lewandowski and Radamel Falcao.
And the Scot has revealed that the has spoken with the club’s owners ahead of possible reinforcements before next season.
“Having spoken with the Glazer family [the owners] I think there’s every intention we want to kick on,” said Ferguson ahead of United’s trip to Arsenal on Sunday.
“We possibly need two players. It depends. If a player came along who met our criteria we would push the boat out and get him, irrespective of how many players we have.”
Ferguson also praised the club’s commercial department for increasing sponsorship revenue in recent seasons, with the Red Devils having recently signed a new training-ground naming rights deal with Aon.
He added: “It has been fantastic [gaining extra revenue from sponsors] and that’s credit to the commercial people, they’ve done a great job and of course the football team has been the platform for that.
“But they’re capitalising on such a great profile of the club – there’s no doubt, worldwide it seems to me to be getting bigger.
“We’re happy where we are at the moment, that’s for sure. We’ve attracted some really good sponsors, interesting and valuable partnerships because all the sponsors we’re combining with have got the same philosophies as ourselves in terms of trying to make their product the best in their business – that’s what we’re trying to do.”
