Man City will be fearing Bale return, declares Tottenham’s Villas-Boas
Andre Villas-Boas believes Gareth Bale's return will fill Manchester City with fear ahead of Tottenham's clash with Citizens on Sunday
Andre Villas-Boas believes Gareth Bale’s return will fill Manchester City with fear ahead of Tottenham’s clash with the Citizens on Sunday.
The Wales winger has not featured since he was carried off on a stretcher with an ankle injury in last month’s Europa League draw with Basel.
But the Portuguese coach confirmed Bale is “definitely” available for selection for the White Hart Lane showdown this weekend.
And Villas-Boas believes Roberto Mancini’s men will be fearing the 23-year-old, who has just been nominated for the PFA player of the year and young player of the year awards.
“There can be a fear factor if he plays,” said Villas-Boas. “We recognise the impact this player has had for us this season. His run of goals that he is on, he can have a big factor.
“It’s good to have him around in this final part of the season. He can be an inspiration to everybody. When you look at the images that we saw [of his twisted ankle], it is good to have him back so quickly.
“This speaks highly of the medical staff at the club. Our squad is full of good players, but Bale can make a difference.”
